Father Clark mentioned that this week would be our way of the cross and we settled down in the NICU taking turns holding him. The NICU is a beautiful place full of beautiful people. Dr. Jackson, the doctor who worked to get Stefanie to Billings, encouraged me to not give up hope, this is a very prayerful hospital with very holy people.

After making difficult phone calls, I had a rough night of sleep. Wednesday began with the fear from both of us that Matthias had died in the night, but he was alive and it was a blessing to get to hold him, share him. Time belongs to God and we will never be able to explain well enough how slowly the time passed. We would comment often, Can you believe it is only 10 a.m.?

We had been given the time we needed.
