Thee Days is a Lifetime

Three o’clock in the morning.

Does anyone else wake up at 3 o’clock in the morning? I do. I like it.

I like it because I think that God likes the number 3. He also likes 7s. Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday at 3 o’clock so certainly he was born at 3 o’clock in the morning. I turned on EWTN radio, like normal, to pray the rosary. I began to pat the baby, pushing and prodding hoping she would flip. I was not able to wake her or feel any independent movement. As my rosary finished and I began the Divine Mercy Chaplet, as my anxiety increased. When the chaplet was finished, I was already dressed, a plastic rosary in one hand, my keys in the other. I woke my poor husband, for the first time that night. I know, that wasn’t nice or kind, to tell him I was on my way to the hospital to have things checked out. He was stunned, told me he would get up and he would drive me but I was already on my way.

At the hospital, I expected the nurses to assure me that all was fine. I felt safe there and was able to rest. James had joined me and when my good doctor told us that we needed to have a C-section my response was “Ok, I am just so glad it isn’t an emergency.”
